A Dying Friend

  • Mood: sympathetic
  • Music: Hold on To God's Unchanging Hand
Tyrone Barber has been with W.A.R.D for the last 3 years and has been a wonderful resident here. He has always been a person of realness and will not bite his tongue for anyone! Tyrone was born April 28th 1950 and has been a Chicago Resident all his life and he attended Calumet High School on The South side of Chicago and attend Lincoln College in Southern Illinois. If anyone knew Tyrone they know that he walked everywhere that he could just to get out of the house and to still be apart of society. Although cancer claims many lives a year, Tyrone is a true fighter of the disease and is holding on for the life of him. He is far to young and I(Ron) don't think that God is ready for him yet. The way it look to me, Tyrone do not want anyone to see him in the condition that he is in so, we are respecting his wishes by not bothering him too much. Tyrone has been a friend, a fighter, and a person to talk to when there was no one else around, and boy do he like to talk mess. That's what makes him who he is today. Tyrone is still alive and we pray that he can get over this minor streak in his life once again and prove the odds wrong.A Chaplin and a hospice nurse will be here in a couple days to pray and help him transition into the next life, but again we want to prove the odds wrong. Thanks for all the support and love, and Please Keep him in your prayers. His picture will be posted as son as they are uploaded.

A Day of Cleaning

  • Mood: Happy
  • Music: Patti Labelle

Hello Readers, Ron here, just giving you an update on whats been happening at W.A.R.D:
We have been working on our fund raising techniques by promoting through facebook.
We have had clients come and go throughout the winter season, and we plan to accept new clients as soon as the winter spur is over.

Today we spent time cleaning the house for the guys, cooking some spaghetti, and preparing for the weekend. The guys are doing good with the exception that one of our residents, Tyrone has had cancer for a while now and it has gotten worse again. We pray for his health to get better.

Mr. Ward has been keeping all the files updated, and making sure that all medications are ordered and here on time.

Myself, I have been doing other things to get our agency recognized and appreciated for out hard work.

We know we haven't been writing in our blog lately, because we have been really busy trying to maintain the agency/home to make sure that we are on track.

Later on we will be condensing files and putting them in the right spots for easy access to client data.

With all t hat siad, we will try harder to update the blog every other day.

Thanks for Reading...

A Day Out In The Neighborhood

  • Mood: Happy
On Sunday May 18th, Mr. Ward called me from the house and told me that he wanted to take the guys out for a walk around the neighborhood. He stated that he felt that they need to get acquainted with the new neighborhood that they are now living in. The guys stated that they wanted to get out of the house anyway. One of the clients stated that they go to group counseling so much, that they hardly have time to enjoy themselves at home. The clients are well taken care of, and they have privileges just like any other human being. All 7 of our clients would love to do a lot more around the house, but resources are limited because we do fun our own program. We had a fund raiser that wasn't very successful for our first time, but we are planning to have some type of luncheon or dinner in the near future.

Things that happened today.

Today was a pretty understandable day considering that it is Monday! The Clients had no complaints and are awaiting the dinner for tonight. By the way this is the first official Blog for our organization. There will be more to come in the next few months. Today Mr. Ward , Myself, And a Resident had a meeting to let him know that he is apart of a new family , and for him to stop letting his pride get in the way of what we are trying to accomplish in his situation. The session was brief, but in the end the client was more understandable and willing to participate more in the agency. Our goal is to help people who need help in getting their lives back in society. the Program is getting off to a good start and we are hoping to get alot more clients into the agency. -Ron
